(Nature of Work) Accountants prepare and examine financial records. They ensure that financial records are accurate and that taxes are paid properly and on time. Accountants play a major roll in running a successful business.
(Education and Training) To become an accountant, most employers require a potential employer to have a bachelor’s degree in accounting or a related field. Many accountants who go through more training and school can become Certified Public Accountants.
(Job Outlook) Accounting is expected to grow approximately sixteen percent in the next year, which is about average. CPAs are licensed by their state’s Board of Accountancy. Becoming a CPA requires passing a national exam and meeting other state requirements.
(Job Prospects) Almost all businesses need an accountant to keep track of their finances. Since our economy is going through a recession, many accountants have been hired to help keep track of how the business is growing and determine how much revenue the business is earning.
(Earnings) The median annual wage of accountants was $61,690 in May 2010. The wage of an accountant depends on location and how big the business is. Also, if you are a personal accountant you can make MUCH more.
